This work had brought to light the poor state of 25,000 of them. However, this metal bridge, above Tarn, was not of the lot, as reported in the day the local county council. Emmanuelle Wargon has given more details on the examinations carried out previously around this installation nowadays stricken:
“This bridge was not considered a sensitive work and especially it had been inspected under the responsibility of the County Council and by a state agency, called Cerema, a specialized agency, in 2017. It was a thorough inspection, followed by a lighter inspection in 2018, which showed no particular difficulty. “
She added: “But of course there is a judicial investigation that is taking place and the Ministry of Ecology and Transport has mobilized an investigation by the Bureau Investigations and Accidents to understand what happened and draw teachings for other structures, other works, other bridges, if necessary. “
