California, the first American state in containment

In San Francisco as in Los Angeles, California, bridges and neighborhoods are emptying. The state and its 40 million people will be padlocked due to the epidemic of new coronavirus that is hitting the United States hard. “We have to order California-wide order that everyone stay at home. And we trust Californians to keep this order”, State Governor Gavin Newsom said Friday, March 20, 2020.

The state of California initially wants to trust the locals and has no plans to convict the offenders. The city of Los Angeles has requisitioned nearly 1,000 hotels to house the light sick or the homeless, and school meals are being distributed on the streets. In anticipation of the health shock, the Mercy, the world's largest floating hospital, will leave its base in San Diego to go to Los Angeles or Seattle.
