If the Covid-19 epidemic affects the four corners of the planet, all countries are not equal in the face of screening tests. In Vietnam, health authorities say they can do it in ten minutes. “For the laboratory test, we take a nasal swab, but for this rapid test method, we take a blood sample to do the test directly and quickly detect cases of Covid-19”, says Khong Minh Tuan, of the Hanoi health center (Vietnam).
In England, researchers at the University of Oxford developed a screening test with a result in 30 minutes. Zhanfeng Cui, professor at the University of Oxford, says that “In a week or two, we can get the regulations to make the test available.” Concerning France, a start-up has developed a rapid screening test, via a box. “This is a serological test, which uses a drop of blood taken from the fingertip, and will indicate if the body has reacted to the virus”, says Alain Calvo, Director of Biotech Development. Results would be provided in fifteen minutes. On the side of the World Health Organization, the instructions are clear: there must be a massive screening for Covid-19.
