Covid-19: the virus cuts the wings of planes

The airline industry is severely affected by the Covid-19 epidemic. In Canada, China or Great Britain, many airports have their planes grounded. The British company Flybee, already in financial difficulty, has filed for bankruptcy. Almost 2,300 jobs are threatened.

The entire airline sector is weakened, with a 79% drop in ticket reservations in Europe last week. Cancellations that prompted the Lufthansa company to immobilize 150 aircraft. Air France announced last February a shortfall of 200 million euros due to the suspension of its flights to China. “Airlines could lose between 50 and 100 billion euros, depending on the level of spread and the duration of the epidemic“, says Arnaud Aymé, an expert in the sector.
