A parallel market for screening tests
Abe Malkin also got into the testing business. The country is facing a shortage, so for several days, the doctor and his assistant have been chasing screening kits that could be held by private laboratories. They will then sell them to wealthy customers.
In the hospital, these tests are free, but they are reserved for the sickest patients. As a result, a kind of parallel market has been created. Dr Malkin's patients are ready to pay the equivalent of 270 euros to get tested – at home.
