in Venice, St. Mark's Basilica is under water

Piazza San Marco, in Venice (Italy), tourists and residents have water up to their knees. A situation due to the combination of heavy rains and a significant tidal coefficient. The water is 1.30 m above the average level and has infiltrated into the main nave of the basilica. Tourists try to make their way on hastily mounted bridges. Tourists enjoy the phenomenon and take pictures, but for the Venetians, it's a real problem.

“It's great for tourists, it's entertaining, everyone has fun, but it's a real problem”says one resident. The authorities are calling on everyone to be cautious, as a further rise in water is expected in the middle of the night, Tuesday, November 12. A record high water level could be reached when visibility is lowest.
