Purpan Hospital in Toulouse (Haute-Garonne) is the largest in the Occitanie region. As everywhere in France, the establishment welcomes patients of the Covid-19 coronavirus. But, unlike other regions such as the Grand Est or Île-de-France, the CHU is not overwhelmed. In the Toulouse conurbation, two thirds of resuscitation beds are still available.
To avoid engorgement, patients are divided between different hospitals and clinics. The Covid-19 epidemic is limited in the Occitania region. There are just over 1,000 people hospitalized, compared to four times more in the Grand Est and ten times more in Île-de-France. When the containment was put in place three weeks ago, less than 200 people were hospitalized. A significant difference compared to other territories.
