Paris: wild animals soon banned in circuses?

Wild animals coming on the track, elephants parading … So many shows that could no longer be held in Paris. The capital wants to ban wild animals in circuses, a proposal that is not new. A vote must take place next week on the issue, the City Council of Paris. Two years ago, a tiger escaped from the Bormann-Moreno Circus was shot dead. This had provoked strong reactions.

The associations also denounce the treatment of animals under the marquees. The Parisian elected officials had already voted to ban wild animals in circuses, a measure that has never come into force, because it is the state that decides in this area. This time, the city is committed to financially support retraining measures. According to a recent survey, 65% of French people would be for this ban.
