A tribute will be held in Paris before a ceremony at the garrison barracks of the regiment, in Valencia.
The body of Brigadier Ronan Pointeau, killed by an explosive device in Mali Saturday, November 2, is expected Monday in France, reports Sunday France Blue Drôme-Ardèche. Then, as tradition dictates, a tribute will first take place in Paris, before a ceremony at the garrison barracks of the regiment, in Valence (Drôme).
TheDates and terms are not yet fixed. Indeed, the Minister of the Armies Florence Parly declared that she would go to Mali to hold talks with the authorities. The device will have to take into account its agenda. But it could look like February 2018, when two Spahis fell in similar conditions in Mali. Their coffins had crossed the Alexandre III bridge in Paris, before receiving military honors at the Invalides. The next day, Florence Parly had moved to Valencia, for tribute within the regiment.
This Monday morning, the chief of the 1st regiment of Spahis will address his soldiers, on the basis of Valencia. The hundred spahis engaged in Mali are continuing their mission. The military will not return until its scheduled end in February.
